30th August: Safari!
We started the day with a morning game drive, the only downside being a 5:30am wake up for the team. We left just as the sun was rising over lake Albert.
On our morning safari we encountered a number of animals, including elephants, giraffes, monkeys, warthogs and at the end we were lucky to come across some Lions.
In the afternoon, we went on a boat trip on the Nile Victoria. We were able to see hippos, crocodiles and a number of exotic birds. We also managed to get a good view of the Murchison Falls which is the most powerful waterfall in the world with 300 cubic meters of water passing through it every second.
After this, we left the Muchison National Park. It was a race against time to leave the park as our pass expired at 6pm that day. We were able to get out with 5 minutes to spare and avoided a 3.6 million shilling fine as a result!
We pressed on to the Masindi Hotel for our overnight stay which has been open for over 100 years and is the oldest hotel in Uganda. We enjoyed a team dinner and games of pool which went on into the late evening.
