Nick and Ella had a plan. To show our groups appreciation for the hospitality that Ruth, Mark and the WATSAN team have provided we started looking for ideas. We came to the conclusion that gifting them two goats would be a gerrrrt lush idea and we embarked on a whimsical quest. In speaking with our local friend Marius and Eric, we got in contact with a local goat farmer where we purchased a pregnant female named Wendy.
With Wendy purchased we continued our mission. Whilst at dinner with Rev. Francis we explained our goal. Fortunately, he had the perrrfect goat we were looking for! He was a short king but mighty, and one of the team members, Ruby, came up with the name Watson!
With the goats acquired, we headed on our walk back in the dead of night to the compound trekking through deep Ugandan countryside. Wendy was doing her best to drag her hooves, but with Watson leading the way we pressed on. Conveniently, our amazing driver Bernard found us down the back roads. He picked Nick, Ella and Co. up and brought them home.
Nick and Ella then presented an overjoyed Ruth and Mark with the new additions, only to find out they already had 6 goats that they had been breading for generations! Despite this, they were still so very grateful for the thoughtful gift.
From Nick, Ella, Wendy and Watson.
